Twitter for Android - 5.0.0 Beta brings all-new design

User's who had subscribed for the Twitter for Android Beta programme and are part of the Twitter beta testing group must have received an update on their devices.

The latest beta update has the version 5.0.0-beta.18.

This version has a striking new design. The following are the noticeable changes in the beta app,
  • The action bar at the top now has,
    1. notifications
    2. direct messages
    3. search
    4. overflow menu
  • The tabs have been reduced to just three,
    1. Home
    2. Discover
    3. Activity
    In the earlier versions, there were seven tabs viz. Home, Notification, Message, Activity, Trending, Find People and Me.
  • There is a new translucent floating bar at the bottom of the screen, this floating bar sports the three buttons,
    1. a link to Gallery
    2. a link to Camera
    3. Compose button
  • The me tab or the profile has been moved to the overflow menu. The overflow menu has the following things,
    1. Report a bug
    2. Profile
    3. Find people
    4. Accounts
    5. Settings
